Should I be concerned about my finger?

I am a florist and a large spike from a palm leaf went into my finger. As soon as I pulled it out, the surrounding area bruised. It was bleeding heavy. I used alcohol wipes on it and put a plaster but it's extremely sore if I apply pressure to it. I'm more concerned that it bruised so quickly when it pierced it! I had my tetanus jag 2 years ago so I am up to date as it lasts 10 years. Thanks for any advice
